BOOTIE – San Francisco's bimonthly mashup bootleg party and the biggest bootleg mashup event in the world – celebrates six years with an anniversary party so big, it can't be contained in one night! On Friday and Saturday, August 7th & 8th, A Plus D present the Bootie 6-Year Anniversary Weekender at the DNA Lounge!

Both nights will feature showcase sets – including video mashups – from Bootie's founders, DJs Adrian & the Mysterious D, who were recently voted "Best DJs" in the SF Weekly "Best of SF" 2009 Readers Poll.

Live Bootie house band Smash-Up Derby – the world's first live mashup rock band – will be doing two different shows at 11pm each night, including a special presentation of "Mashups 101: A Bastard Pop History Lesson."

At midnight on both nights, Bootie SF welcomes Bootie LA's resident 10-person dance crew R.A.I.D. (Random Acts of Irreverent Dance), who will take the stage in their trademark full gold bodysuits, with a trio of choreographed mashup dance numbers. R.A.I.D. has been blowing up and most recently performed with Yo Majesty and Peaches in Los Angeles, and will also be featured in an upcoming Peaches music video.

Each night, there is a different host for the upstairs room, which will be its own "club-within-a-club," including SF's favorite indie-electro club Blow Up with DJs Jeffrey Paradise & Richie Panic on Friday, and hot new LA club Illumination Radio with DJ Jells Mayhem and local mashup genius, guest DJ Earworm -- all spinning the best in indie, electro, and pop -- bootlegs, mashups, and remixes.

And of course, there are FREE exclusive 20-track Bootie 6-Year Anniversary CDs for the first 500 people through the door each night! Sponsored in part by the SF Bay Guardian.

FRIDAY AUGUST 7 kicks things off with "School Night," featuring classic mashups from the past six years, with DJs Adrian & the Mysterious D and a guest set from Bearracuda's DJ Boyshapedbox. At 11 PM, class is in session as Smash-Up Derby presents "Mashups 101: A Bastard Pop History Lesson." Complete with a "pop-up video"-style slide show, the band will trace the chronology of the mashup scene's most landmark tracks, from 2002's seminal "A Stroke of Genie-us" to the multiple mashed-up versions of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" to the most current mashup hits.

Also on Friday, Blow Up -- named one of America's hippest indie dance parties by Spin magazine -- takes over the upstairs room, with local DJ darlings Jeffrey Paradise and Richie Panic spinning the best indie and electro on the West Coast, along with photographer Ava Berlin snapping party pix all night. There will also be surprise drag queen performances by Suppositori Spelling and Renttecca, as well as naughty schoolgirl and schoolboy go-go dancers presented by The Indra.

Dressing in naughty schoolgirl and schoolboy attire welcome!

SATURDAY AUGUST 8 continues the party with "Pirate Night," as Bootie's resident DJs spin Adrian & the Mysterious D the newest and best mashups from the past year. House band Smash-Up Derby will be playing a special pirate-themed "Greatest Hits" set, featuring such crowd favorites as "Tricky Sandman" (Run-DMC vs. Metallica), "You Believe Me All Night Long" (Cher vs. AC/DC) and new hits like "Shut Up, American Boy" (The Ting Tings vs. Estelle).

In the upstairs room, it's the return of LA's club Illumination Radio, featuring electro indie remixes and mashups from Jells Mayhem of The Illuminoids (who will also be doing a late-night main floor set) along with special guest star mashup producer DJ Earworm, who just worked with Annie Lennox to release a mashup retrospective spanning her solo career, called "Backwards/Forwards" which was just officially released. There will also be more drag queen performances by Anna Conda and Cookie Dough, and The Indra will be bringing her pirate go-go dancers.

Dressing in pirate attire, stripes, or skulls & crossbones welcome!

ABOUT BOOTIE: Launched in 2003 in San Francisco by DJs Adrian & the Mysterious D, Bootie was the first club night in the United States dedicated solely to the burgeoning artform of the bootleg mashup -- and is now the biggest mashup event in the world, with monthly parties in eight cities on three continents, from NYC to Paris, to the most recent new monthly which opened in Berlin in June. DJs Adrian & the Mysterious D have perfected the formula for a great mashup club party, both in sound and in vibe, and have brought it all over the world, with additional one-off Booties being thrown from Beijing to Hong Kong, to the very first Bootie Brazil in August.

Mixing and matching every conceivable musical genre, era, and style into one big dance party where everyone feels welcome, Bootie provides the soundtrack for the A.D.D. generation -- with free mashup CDs given away like candy! Bootie is a truly mixed party, where the patrons' styles, ages, and sexualities are as mashed up as the music!

Bootie's DJs and house band Smash-Up Derby, as well as guest mashup DJs from around the world, keep your brain guessing and body dancing with creative song combinations, celebrating -- and satirizing -- the many different forms of music. Bootie also presents the infamous Midnight Mashup Show, featuring local drag and burlesque performers. Bootie showcases the best mashup productions from around the globe ... because one song at a time just isn't enough!
